Opera House and Center for Performing Arts
Busan, South Korea
The New Busan Opera House design by Asymptote is conceived not simply as a pace to hear and 'view' music, but rather as an architectural statement celebrating tempo, harmony and spectacle. The Opera building outwardly expresses the power of musical and theatrical performance, and above all is a lace that celebrates culture context and meaning. Within the new Opera House in Busan one will experience space, volume and the lyrical landscapes that surround the complex.
The project is situated at the juncture between mountain and the sea and within such a dramatic and beautiful setting it its self is a protagonist, an actor on an epic stage performing for the city of Busan and the nation of South Korea with eloquence, stature and power, a force and a place for gathering, enjoying and celebrating.
