Asymptote Architecture is pleased to announce winning a 2013 Progressive Architecture Award for the Beukenhof Auditorium and Crematorium. The award was presented to Asymptote Architecture principals Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture at the 60^th annual Progressive Architecture Award’s dinner at the Museum of Modern Art on Thursday, February 21^st.

Asymptote is pleased to announce the launch of the Velo Towers, within the Dreamhub development in the Yongsan District of Seoul Korea. Asymptote’s project is designed as an integral part of the master plan accommodating several new projects that are situated along the newly planned Yongsan Park.

Hani Rashid, Asymptote’s co-founder and principal, has been appointed the new Professor of Architecture at the Angewandte Univeristy of Applied Arts Vienna. The post was previously held By Wolf Prix for two decades and prior to that Hans Hollein. Hani will commence his role at the Angewandte in September 2011.

ON MAY 26 2011 THE DESIGN FOR THE BEUKENHOF CREMATORIUM AND AUDITORIUM BY ASYMPTOTE WAS PRESENTED TO THE MAYORS OFFICE AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS OF SCHIEDAM IN THE NETHERLANDS. The Project is a 2000 sq m building to be built by 2014 in Schiedam. The building will be used by all religious groups who live in Schiedam and near by Rotterdam. The project is in the approval stages and a commissioned building by Piet Sanders.

ASYMPTOTE WAS AWARDED A CLOSE SECOND PLACE FINISH FOR THE KAOHSIUNG MARINE GATEWAY PROJECT. The project proposes a 200m long structure situated between two 14 story towers located at the cities newly developed harbor edge. Asymptote’s proposal calls for a new urban intervention at the cities waterfront combining both cultural and commercial aspects with the port terminal functions the building is designed to house. The buildings technological envelope and architecture and is designed to be a striking and elegant addition to the quickly changing city of Kaohsiung and to act as a catalyst for unique and sustained urban development over the coming years and decades.

ASYMPTOTE’S BAKU ECO-CULTURAL MASTER PLAN PRESENTED TO TOP LEADERS IN AZERBAIJAN. Asymptote’s ecological improvement proposal for the capital city features a new cultural causeway linking its historic district to new architectural landmarks. The new master plan uses natural remediation to refurbish the ecological environment of Baku Bay reviving the city’s coastline along the Caspian Sea.
