The Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi opened on November 3 to the general public after a pre-opening coinciding with the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Yas Hotel is a 500-room, 85,000-square-meter complex designed by Asymptote and constructed by Aldar Properties PJSC. The commission to design the buildings and environs from a closed competition was awarded in 2007. Project completion was achieved in under two years from design initiation to completed building.

The project was broadcast worldwide as the center piece of the new Yas Marina Circuit, and is the first newly constructed building to cross over  a Formula 1 race track

The Yas Hotel, designed by Asymptote, opens October 29 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The complex comprises of two 12 story buildings that traverse the Yas Marina race track. The Hotel is sited on land and water celebrating both the raceway circuit as well as the Yas Marina. The Yas Hotel will be a key feature of the upcoming grand finale to the Formula One circuit for 2009 on November 1 and seen by over 600 million viewers world wide during the race day coverage.

166 Perry Street, Asymptote’s first building project in New York City, is nearing completion. The building utilizes various types of glass to optimize views from within while varying reflectivity of sky, ground and surroundings on the exterior. The building’s proximity to the Hudson River and location in the West Village is instrumental in the design of both the building’s glass envelope as well as the Asymptote designed interiors.

Asymptote’s project in Azzano San Paolo, Bergamo Italy for the Percassi Group has received a green light from the local government and planning commission for phase 1 of the development. The Master Plan, Luxury Retail and Office Complex, Specialized Clinics and Art Park are progressing towards a projected completion date in 2013.
